Unbelievable food and staff, located right up the street. Have yet to order anything here that wasn't absolutely delicious. Always a long lunch line, so the owner noticed my work shirt. Quickly got my order and gave me number to call ahead. Love this place!

I visited April 15 2019, but I have frequented it many times prior. This is a smaller "hole in the wall." Atmosphere & decor will not be considered, as it is a place to order & take out.
I have only tasted one sandwich from this deli, their cornerstone sandwich, Phillies Cheese Steak! Their Phillies Cheese Steak is way above average. It has a special taste that is a challenge to describe, but you need to try it. It is no wonder this is their main sandwich. It is worth $12 & jumbo sandwich is filling.
Is it the best steak sandwich I ever tasted? No. Is it the best steak sandwich in South Florida? Likely not. Is it amongst the best steak sandwiches in the South Florida area? Likely yes. Is it worth a visit once & awhile when you are in the mood for a nice Phillies Cheese Steak or any of their other sandwiches. Absolutely!
Swiftie's is worth your time & $. -

You know what I like. A good deal. And Swifty's is a great deal.
I stopped in again tonight, wanting a darn good sandwich.
I have been a few times, and I have gotten pulled in by their hot subs. That's what they seem to specialize in, and wow, some very good ones. I had the Italian Sausage(legit good), and the cheese burger sub(so good, it was a cheat day).
But I prefer cold subs, so this time I stuck to my guns and got a Italian cold cuts. That's, ham, salami and cappicola.
It wasn't a complicated procedure, i called out my fixings and it was done. As Swifts deli is in side the gas station, I had to go to the front counter where you would normally pay for gas at, and pay for my sandwich.
Here is where things get real good.
It's less than 6 bux. That would be a good price on an average sub. But this sub was great.
When I got home I dug in immediately. It had the extra pickles and extra onions I asked for(as often other places don't), and the rest of the fixings were fresh.
The meats were good and the bread was pretty good as well. Overall it's pretty lucky this affordable sub spot is near me. The only problem is trying not to go all the time. -

Food is amazing, let's be honest about that. It's also has this eerie magical prooorty to it because it has the ability to bring you back to a specific memory.
Let me explain....
My best friend in college and I used to play poker games in the dorm. We'd agree that if either of us won, we would use the winnings to get beer, snacks, and sandwiches from this deli down the street called optimo. Sadly he passed away - few years later. Sorry for the down moment, just Stay with me here.
This place was very much part of tbe DNA of New York. You walk in, everyone has an accent, there's 2-3 rows of every kind of chip and candy bar, the walls are lined with beer, soda, and usually at least one case is filled with a random assortment of start up drink companies (usually my favorite section).
There's the smokers section, cashier, and the lifeblood of my college years..... the sandwich station. Open deli style case, open kitchen for the grill, a tip jar, and a prominent menu above with about 10-20 house creations. Oh... and nothing but boars head. There was also this long table that was littered with the debris of lost lottery scratchoffs, and someone is usually enjoying a coffee while their sandwich is being worked on.
Walking into swiftys place today was like walking through a time warp. I immediately felt like I was back at Optimo. Literally the entire layout is identical.
But what does this mean for you, the reader, and what the food was like?
I got the philly. It's the first thing on the menu, and by the grace of god they don't include bell peppers on it. I unwrap my small philly... one single wax paper wrapping.
The bread is grilled on the outside, and the whole thing is kinda pressed. Almost like they turned the bread into a wrap. Not too much sauce, not too much meat/lettuc/tomato/anything else. This was the most balance philly sandwich I've had in awhile.
This place is definitely 4 stars for the philly, but I'm giving 5 for reviving the memories I had with my friend in college.
Update: I just went back here to try something else. Ended up with a cold 9" Italian (that's sounds dirty).
I'm not entirely sure if they're in competition with jimmy johns next door for fastest service, but in less than 6 minutes I ordered and paid for my Sammy. Also... it's delicious. I wasn't event hungry, I just wanted a reason to leave my office. Now I'm curled up under my desk hiding so I can nap, but this onion aroma isn't fooling anyone.
Hands down my favorite sandwich lunch spot in fl.
